Stop obsessing over Greek mythology and the Greek classical age for a second and focus on the very recent bloody history of the actual Greek people.

It’s the 100th remembrance day of the Greek (Pontiac) genocide by the Turks. Turkey still denies this huge crime ever happened. Be an ally and reblog the post. More foreigners should learn about this.

(I have as many (unrelated) tags as possible so people interested in Greece will see it. It’s evident that Tumblr only cares on the superficial Greek matters so I will put the important matter there).

Yes it is. The Greek Genocide was from 1913-1922, while the Armenian Genocide was 1915-1918

The Assyrian Genocide which left 270,000-750,000 dead

The Armenian Genocide which left 850,000-1,800,000 dead

The Ethnic Cleansing of Thracian Bulgarians which left 50,000-60,000 dead

The Ottoman Empire literally genocided Eastern and Southern Europe. No one fucking talks about it.

HOLY HELL looks like India wasn’t the only country that had this done to them… BY THE SAME PEOPLE NO LESS.

The reason Crimea and Southern Ukraine is full of Russians is because Ottoman backed slavers depopulated the area of the native Ukrainians so much, that when Russians finally pushed the ottomans back in the 1700s they literally were able to colonize the empty land.

Time to bring this back.

Also the Rhodope and Thrace massacres in Bulgaria in 1913, and the Batak massacre in 1876. And to this day no apology and reparations or even ACKNOWLEDGEMENT has been issued by Turkey.
